MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF YOUNG AGRICULTURISTS
“WHERE AG SCIENCE AND INGENUITY INTERSECT”
M.A.Y.A offers a collaborative, inquiry-based learning environment. The children’s study will focus on agriculture and nature. Members will have the opportunity to dive deeper into how agriculture relates to our world in the present day. They will be given the opportunity to learn from real life agricultural experiences… from propagating plants to growing our own tilapia.
Highlights of M.A.Y.A.
Develop Critical Thinking Skills:
Connecting scientific principles to real world applications. For example, use critical thinking skills to analyze and problem solve the real-world agricultural challenge of pest control.
Build Agricultural Literacy:
Learn how crops are cultivated, the raising of livestock, and the role of farmers in food production.
Environmental Stability:
Learn sustainable farming methods that conserve our water and soil.
Food Systems:
Explain the journey of food from farm to table discussing the role of agriculture in ensuring food security and nutrition.
Hands on Learning:
Learning on the farm includes, animal husbandry, gardening, taping for syrup, nature studies, and agricultural projects, which improve learning comprehension and retention.
Community:
M.A.Y.A builds a strong community through working together, playing together and taking care of the plants and animals as well as each other. Through caring for plants, animals, and each other, responsibility, patience and kindness are cultivated.

Winter M.A.Y.A Meets on the following Wednesdays
from 3:45-5:15
*Doors open at 3:45 we begin our studies at 4:00.
